罗老师的搜索引擎研究蛮有趣的. 每个国家, 每个民族大抵都有一些不堪回首的过去的吧, 将它轻轻地抹掉, 也未尝不是一个好的方法.
其实人也一样, 总有一些事情不愿想起——仿佛当我们不再想起, 那事情就不再发生过了.
《我和僵尸有个约会》里头有个”Forget It Bar”, 好像就是这个意思.

工科生的宿舍

在Boing-Boing读到的, 甚是有趣. 两位MIT的学生把他们的宿舍进行了一番改造, 搭建了一个命名为MIDAS (Multifunction In-Dorm Automation System)的自动控制系统. 这个系统极其牛, 可以通过声控, Web界面, 触摸屏和其它远程设备控制, 包含保卫系统, 监视器, Party设备等等. 作者还写了详细的文档, 声称”Anyone with some programming and construction skills, drive, and a couple hundred dollars should be able to replicate this system.”
介绍一下关键功能.
Text Displays
系统包含多个显示器, 其中两个可以在多个信息来源中随机抽取内容来显示, 包括新闻, 天气预报, RSS源, 甚至邮件列表(如果你不知道那是什么, 不妨想像成BBS)里面的文章. 另外一个显示器用来显示当前播放的曲目信息.
Party模式
作者最得意的功能, 只需轻轻一按, 房间马上会发生天翻地覆的变化……
When the button is hit, all the lights shut off, the blinds close, the displays show: “FEEL THE ENERGY” and a deep voice says this over the speakers with a deep bass beat in the background. Then intense music turns on along with the sound activated strobe light, laser light show, fog machine, black lights, revolving disco light, LCD visualization projector projected onto the blackout-screen, neon colored lights, computer screen Winamp visualization, oscilloscope showing the waveform of the music, and surveillance camera monitors.
简单翻译一下, 一旦Party按钮按下, 所有灯光都会熄灭, 百叶窗关闭, 显示器显示”FEEL THE ENERGY”并有一个低沉的声音在deep bass beat的伴随下反复重复这句话(汗). 然后劲爆的音乐响起, 伴随着音乐的节奏会有闪光灯, 激光, 云雾(再汗), 黑灯(这是啥?), 旋转的disco灯, LCD显示器转换成Winamp驱动的乱七八糟视觉效果, 等等等等. 作者的网页上给出了一个视频.
环境氛围
可以通过简单的操作设定氛围(mood), 有work, relax和sleep几种可供选择. work模式会打开正常的灯光并播放适合工作的音乐(不知道是啥?), relax模式会打开彩灯”to create a peaceful atmosphere for kicking back”, 睡眠模式会关掉所有灯光和百叶窗, 并播放适合睡觉的曲子…
触摸屏控制台
系统拥有一个图形界面的触摸控制版, 这个触摸屏还会同时显示新闻和天气. 作者说使用一个Pentium 166 MHz的CPU和Win98系统.
其它
可以通过遥控或其它途径同时控制18个灯; 即使不在宿舍, 可以通过互联网同样操作; 还有报警系统和监视系统; 他们还认为传统的宿舍门(就是我们这样的)太占用空间, 正在安装一个感应门; 还有声控系统, 自动百叶窗等等等等.
不知道这两位同学是学啥的呢, 不过估计是工科的吧, 赫赫.

阮同学很奇怪为什么我每次写实验报告都要花那么多时间，我也很奇怪。不长的报告，连图总共11页，这么写写改改的居然花了七八个小时；都说处女座追求完美，我不信星座，但总觉得这么干活实在有点变态。
今天天气真的很好，要是没有托福考试和各种各样的杂事就好了。我显然是对考这次托福的感觉不大满意的，至少比模考要差一截，不过也许过得去就行了。
自己近来是越来越深居简出或者说封闭了，能不参加的公众活动都不去，企图省点时间做自己的事情——不过有人会说这样不好的。还有人说要积极点，要对各种各样的事情都有信心，要时刻energetic？也许。各种各样的事情。
一觉可以睡到中午——然后对照着to-do上面的东西一件一件解决吧。突然想想又怪没意思的，这不，期末考又要到了。
